School districts are presently facing legal challenges dealing with their response to student behavior or speech in these areas. Locate information on one of these legal challenges presently discussed in the media, recently submitted to the courts or recently adjudicated anywhere in the United States. Do further research on the situation. (Media accounts may or may not be accurate.) Write a 1-2 page paper, double spaced, explaining the details of the case and its present standing. Conclude the paper with suggestions for school district policy that may prevent other districts from facing similar legal expenses and possibly negative media publicity.
Do your research for reputable sources or articles that describe in detail (don’t forget to cite!) the legal issues that face education today. Wikipedia and newspaper/online news sources are not sufficient sources for information although they may suggest topics for further research. All sources must have a legal rather than media basis.
