U can use any organization u want. I’ll fill out my name.
Instructions
Assignment 1.1: What is your organization?
First, read “How to Use This Workbook” and “Introduction: An Overview of the Grantseeking Process” (pages xiii – 10) from the textbook.
Then, submit a word processing document that describes the organization that you will use for this course – it can be either an organization at which you work or volunteer or one you find interesting and can access their organizational website.
There are two parts to this assignment, the organizational description and your responses to the questions highlighted below.
Instructions:
The organization you select must be either a non-profit organization or a public sector institution at the local, state, or federal level.
You may select an organization at which you work to use for the assignments in this course if it meets the requirements above. If you do not currently work at an organization that you will use for this course or do not want to use the one at which you do work, you will need to locate an organization in which you are interested and for which you can access organizational information on their website.
Assignment Part 1: Prepare a word processing document in which you describe your selected organization providing the following information:
Organization Name
What is the organization’s web page URL?
Is this a 501(c)3 organization or a government agency?
Location
Size (staff, board of directors, facilities, etc.)
Organizational Structure
Types of services provided
Existing funding sources/levels
Assignment Part 2: Remember that you are selecting this organization as the one for which you will be writing a grant request. You probably don’t yet know which of your organization’s projects or programs you will use for your funding request, nor what potential funding source you will submit your grant request. But, I want you to have given some thought to those questions. Based on the first chapter in the textbook, your written assignment should include responses to the following questions:
For the organization that you selected in Part 1, which of their programs/projects/needs are you thinking about for this project? With that in mind, what category of support are you considering, and for what purpose? Any idea of the amount your request might be? What organization or agency are you considering for your request? Is it a particular grant program?
This is simply to get you thinking about these questions and to review what you read in the first chapter. And it also gives you some ideas about what things you will need to do to get the first few assignments completed. So, your answer can be “I’m not sure yet but I am thinking about requesting funding from a small foundation that focuses on religious tolerance, though I haven’t looked to see if there are such groups.”
Formatting this assignment: Format the document using each item as a sub-heading. Single-space the text, with a blank line after each heading/sub-heading and between paragraphs. IF you use a direct quote, please make sure it is in quotation marks and has an in-text citation, formatted close to APA. But I’m not very meticulous about periods, etc. in the citations, and references.) For this assignment, you don’t need a reference list unless you are citing something other than the organization’s website or the textbook, then use something consistent and close to APA, but again I’m not fussy about it being exactly right.
