For this Discussion Board, please post some thoughts on the differences or distinctions between an employee and an independent contractor in a setting other than the real estate sales office. For instance, you or a friend of yours hires a painter to paint your home, or you hire a landscaper the cut the lawn and trim the hedges. Or perhaps you hire a day care provider to look after your child or aging parent. Would these individuals be an employee of yours or an independent contractor? What are the key indicators that make this determination? Consider factors such as: does this person perform a one time service such as a plumber or an on-going service? How much is paid over a one year period of time? Does the individual provide his or her own tools or equipment or do you provide the lawnmower and garden tools?
