you will design a project that addresses the media sector and audience identified in
your Media and Communication report. Guided by a central research question or objective,
your team will conduct research and generate content for the audience you identified. You
will then critically assess the impact of your project
Imagine you have been commissioned by a media or communication organisation to help
them understand their existing audience, and propose a strategy to reach an underserved,
disengaged or new audience. Develop a research project that investigates your chosen media
organisation and audience. The project should be guided by a central research question or
objective. You may choose to use the A2 research question and method(s) of one of your
group as a starting point, or use a combination of ideas to form a new approach. You will
conduct some pilot research in your tutorial groups to help test ideas and gather information to inform your proposed audience strategy. You will then use this information to refine your strategy proposal and present the whole project in a professional document ready to deliver to your imagined industry partner.
Existing Research: The first phase of your project should involve gathering relevant
scholarly and industry research to demonstrate your understanding of the media sector. This may include identifying existing audience research, industry policies or regulations, audience preferences, competitors’ strategies, and any other relevant factors that impact your chosen media sector and audience. Please note that while your A2 required a focus on defining the media sector and issue, this assignment is asking you to shift your focus to the audience and demonstrate knowledge of the audience research that exists on your topic. You should include a brief contextual summary of industry sector and organisation, but any information from your A2 should be rewritten in the context of this assignment.
Data Collection: Gather data through both primary (surveys, interviews, focus groups)
research methods to complement the secondary data you have found (literature reviews,
industry reports, existing data). Ensure the research methods chosen are appropriate for the objectives and scope of your project. You may use existing research that is publicly available to you, but you should also design and conduct a pilot test of one piece of original research as a team. The pilot research will be tested in tutorials and you will gain feedback
on this from your peers. You will use this feedback to inform the development of your audience strategy.
Analysis and Findings: Based on your findings in the pilot stage of research, evaluate the
information you have collected. What have you learned in the process of trialling these
research methods? Do your findings support other research you have found? For example,
How did your participants understand your questions, what kinds of answers do you get
back? How might this data be useful to your industry partner? How would you collect your
data and analyse the results if you deployed these methods on a larger scale?
Audience Strategy: Based on your research findings, develop a strategy for engaging your
intended audience. This audience may be currently underserved or disengaged, or you might see an opportunity to develop a new audience. The strategy you propose for this audience should be carefully considered and justified in relation to your overall project design. You may propose more than one strategy, but one should be presented in more detail in your final submission. The strategy you propose may include informational or creative examples such as a video, infographic, blog, podcast episode, report, presentation, campaign, or communication plan. This is not an exhaustive list; you may propose other options in consultation with your tutor. Finally, discuss how your strategy can be implemented and the impact you anticipate it may have in addressing your intended audience.
Presentation and Documentation: Prepare a comprehensive report (2500 words)
documenting your project from design to evaluation. Include sections such as an executive
summary with reference to existing audience sector research, research question and
methodology, data collection, audience strategy, and impact/dissemination. You should
attach supporting material (in addition to word count), including
Evidence of data gathered such as interview questions, copy of survey, notes from
data collection and analysis.
– Example of audience strategy.
Your final submission can be presented in a style that suits your project design but
should be submitted to Canvas as a PDF.
– You may like to use a tool such as Canva for design templates.
Please ensure you include your names, student numbers, tutorial time and day, and the name
of your tutor on the cover page
Individual Component (500 words)
Critical Evaluation: In 500 words, evaluate the impact of your project on the identified
audience and media sector. Reflect on the outcomes compared to your initial research
question/objective. Analyse what worked well, what could be improved, and identify any
avenues for further research. Your individual evaluation should be submitted to Canvas as a PDF
I have also attached my A2 assignment and have also attached the marking criteria please follow this descption carefully as it is a capstone unit and sometimes the writer has lost track or gone off on tangents that hurt the assignment please text me if you need anything
you also need to create quizzes and surverys please ensure you do that also there are quite a few elements like that please see the attached on how to make them
